Do you ever feel like people expect you to act a certain way¿
Problems arise when you let others define you, when you feel totally stressed out by the effort to meet others' expectations, or when you feel like you need to act a certain way in order to be loved and accepted.
I wish i could say that the insecurities caused by the expectations of others is something you can grow out of.
It probably isn't.
If you can't just ignore the voices around you and there's no hope of outgrowing the pressure to please others, what is the answer?
Our only hope is to realise that our value is not determined by what we do, who we are or how others see us but simply how God views us.

- I have been creating art throughout my life but it was not until the beginning of 2010, having ample time in my hands that i started creating art on a full-time basis. I am a self taught artist, having no formal education in art, painting solely driven by interest, love for art and passion. Occasionally, dream and emotion inspired. As an emotional painter, expressing myself in my artwork is as important as it is for me to breath. Expressing myself through art enables me to reach deep down into my true essential self and share that state of interconnectedness and "entanglement". When an idea becomes compulsion, I express it. I believe that Art is an essential requirement of living. I am from Sarawak, a Malaysian born and raised in Brunei Darussalam and lived in Miri, Sarawak for most of my adult life. I am currently residing in Kuala Lumpur. I have two beautiful children.

Upcoming Event (august 2013)
I will be exhibiting this piece titled 'Ngajat
Indu - iban Tribe' for the Penang Art Society's 60th Anniversary Art Exhibition which will be held at the Penang State Art Gallery, Dewan Sri Pinang. Georgetown, Penang. 22nd Aug - 4th sept 2013.
Born of mixed parentage, my father being a chinese and mother iban. i am proud to share a part of my Sarawakian culture to the Penang audience.
The ‘ngajat’ dance originated from the Iban community and has been passed down from generation to generation. The origin of this indigenous Iban dance is not clearly known but it is believed to have been in existence along with the Iban tribe since the 16th Century.
The Ngajat indu meaning female dance, is performed to celebrate the most important harvest festival, Gawai Dayak, to welcome important guests to the longhouses and so on.
The female dancers have an elaborate headdress, chains, beads and a ‘dress’ that reaches to below their knees with intricate weaving. The dance is performed accompanied by the music from tribal musical instruments, usually percussions, including the enkeromong, bendai, canang and dumbak or ketebong.

International Women's Day Art Exhibition
I had taken part in the International Women's Day Art Exhibition recently, with more than 100 international artists involved showcasing their artworks at the 4 days event which was held at Viva Mall Exhibition Hall, march 7-10/2013. The wondrous event was graciously launched by Y.A. Bhg Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad and his wife, Y.A.Bhg Tun Dr Hasmah.

A Kebaya is a traditional blouse-dress combination that originates from Indonesia and worn by women in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Burma, Singapore, southern Thailand. It is sometimes made from sheer material such as silk, thin cotton or semi-transparent nylon or polyester, adorned with brocade or floral pattern embroidery.
Apart from traditional kebaya, fashion designers are looking into ways of modifying the design and making kebaya a more fashionable outfit. Casual designed kebaya can even be worn with jeans or skirts. For weddings or formal events, many designers are exploring other types of fine fabrics like laces to create a bridal kebaya.

This painting is inspired by a photograph i saw on instagram. I like the colors and composition of the whole picture in addition to loving cats a whole lot. I have incorporated some pink ribbon details onto the "tatting" as my mum calls it, to celebrate the month of october which is breast cancer awareness month. A campaign which is very close to my heart.
